Meeting with the Victoria Women’s Newcomers group, to discuss the early history of the House and its connections to The Chief Factor’s Daughter.
From the Activities Report of the VWNC’s February newsletter:
On January 16th several VWNC members took part in a very interesting tour of Point Ellice House followed by tea with Vanessa Winn, the author of the historical novel “The Chief Factor’s Daughter” which is based on a few years in the lives of the Work family. Mr Work had Point Ellice House built for his daughter and son-in-law in 1865. This was a unique experience for VWNC. Thank you to Jean Gordon for convening this event.
